Amidst the economic hardship being experienced coupled with the removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria, transport fares have skyrocketed in some parts of the country.

Domestic airfare has also soar from One Hundred Thousand Naira to Two Hundred Thousand Naira and above for one-way ticket, living residents to opt in for road trips.

To make things easier for Christians and the less privileged during yuletide in Borno state, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has once again sponsored the transportation of 710 passengers to South-South, South-East, and South-West zone to and fro.

The 2024 free transportation was flagged off on Saturday, 21st December, 2024, by the Chairman Ohanaeze APC Support Group, Chief Ugochukwu Egwudike, at Borno Express Motor Park, Maiduguri.

Addressing the travellers, Chief Egwudike said Governor Zulum is a father to the fatherless, praying God continues to guide him.

General Manager of Borno Express Motor park, Zanna Grema Kyari thanked the Governor for his timely intervention, saying he wants the Non-indigenes to spread the brotherhood offered to them in Borno to their home towns and other parts of the country.

“It is high time for us Nigerians to propagate that this is our country, live together, assist each other, bring development and prosperity to different parts of the country.”

Representatives of some ethnic groups, Francis Okoye, Ngozi Adamu Mohammed, and other stakeholders, called on respective states to emulate what Governor Zulum is doing in order to build a unified country.

Beneficiaries of the gesture also acknowledged Governor Zulum’s kindness towards them and other non-indigenes in the state.

The first batch of travellers has 285 passengers loaded on seven buses.
