NGO, Govt, Traditional rulers make move for inclusion of invisible children and women
Allamin Foundation For Peace And Development (ALFOPED) organised a High level policy dialogue with government officials and traditional leaders on meeting the demands of Boko Haram conflict survivors, victims and de-radicalised women in Borno state as in the 3 Charters of demands.
The event took place at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development auditorium, Maiduguri.
Although, Borno is in it post insurgency recovery phase, de-radicalised women, survivors of Boko Haram insurgency and children born in captivity experience social stigma, social exclusion and discrimination within the community and society, prompting this policy dialogue for redress.
Executive Director of the Foundation, Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, said every individual and agency need to assist the invisible children and women recover from the ruins of insurgency.

“It is no longer about living everything to the government to handle, but everyone being determined to bring their widows mite on what the community members want for the attainment of lasting peace,” She said.
Commissioner Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Zuwaira Gambo commended Allamin Foundation, saying the dialogue presented an opportunity to reflect on the progress made on the reintegration process and chart the way forward towards healing, reconciliation, sustainable recovery and resilience.
District Head of Yerwa, Engr. Muhammad Abba Sanda and other traditional rulers made constructive recommendations, which included change of location for affected children and women.
“Invisible children from Marte can be resettled in Kaga, Damboa, or other parts of the state to tackle stigmatisation and other threats on them.”

Special Adviser on Security to Borno State Government, Gen. Abdullahi Ishaq (Rtd) promised to work on all the issues of engagement raised between community members and de-radicalised insurgents to sustain peace in the state.
Some members of the State House of Assembly also pledged support to the inclusion, protection, and promotion of the welfare of the invisible children and women as well as traditional rulers in the state.
