Gov Zulum Leads Initiative to Train Youth and Volunteers in Liberated Areas

The Borno State Government has set up skills acquisition centers in all the liberated Local Government Areas as part of its efforts to rebuild communities and empower residents.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, announced this, at MOCOLIS today, urging the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other international donors to support the initiative.

Professor Tar explained that the state will continue its collaboration with the UNDP and other NGOs to provide skills training for volunteer security personnel and unemployed youth across the state, adding that the government will decide which trades will be taught to ensure the programs align with local needs.

He also recommended that the duration of the training programs be extended to allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of their chosen trades.

The Commissioner encouraged trainees to form cooperative societies, which will enable them to access small and medium-scale entrepreneurship loans through the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment.

Professor Tar advised participants to make full use of the knowledge and tools provided, warning them not to sell or misuse the start-up equipment they receive.
