FG AND NEDC TRAIN STEMA TEACHERS IN BORNO

The Office of the Vice President of Nigeria with support from North East Development Commission (NEDC) flagged off a two-days training for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Agriculture (STEMA) teachers in Borno state.
The training held at Education Resource Centre (ERC) Maiduguri was facilitated under the Accelerated Senior Secondary School Education Programme (ASSEP) to upskill teachers for the attainment of quality education.
Borno State Commissioner of Education, Engineer Lawan Abba wakilbe, represented by the State Focal Person, Suleiman Abba Sheriff said every teacher is expected to get it right and step down the knowledge acquired to their students for the benefit of the state, their schools and themselves.
The State Focal Person reiterated that the Commissioner of Education will ascertain the impact of the training, urging the teachers to pay rapt attention and learn more throughout the program.

Personal Assistant to the Vice President on Domestic and North East Affairs, Mahmud Muhammad said “ASSEP aims to transform education quality in the Northeast region in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Administration’s Education Revitalization Commitment -under the supervision of the Senior Special Assistant on Regional
Development to the President, Office of the Vice President, Dr. Mariam Masha with support from the NEDC.”
He commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s unwavering commitment to enhancing education despite the challenges of insecurity in the state.
Participants who spoke to SMK News affirmed that the two days training will improve their communication skills among other skills learnt for effective teaching of STEMA subjects to their students and in turn aid students easy undertaking.

The training which commenced on Monday 11th November, 2024 and expected to end on Tuesday, 12th November 2024 featured an engagement session with teachers, master trainers and stakeholders where thought provoking questions where asked to accelerate what they learnt.
