Borno’s Sanitation Agency ends 2024 sanitation for healthy living drive

Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEPA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, has supervised the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the last month of the year.
The sanitation, which is scheduled every first Saturday of every new month, was led by the General Manager of BOSEPA, Abubakar Sulaiman, and supported by the permanent secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Juliana Bitrus, within Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and environs.
Special Assistant to Borno State Governor on Environmental Matters, Musa Boma, commended the sanitation vanguards and volunteers for always participating in the exercise.
On her part, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Dr. Juliana Bitrus extolled the compliance and participation of the public with the monthly exercise throughout the year 2024.
President of the sanitation court, Esther Peter, expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for establishing a sanitation court that will bring people to book in case of any acts of environmental contamination and pollutants.
Lead of the Sanitation, Abubakar Suleiman, reiterated that the December 7th exercise marked the closing of the year 2024 sanitation exercise.

He appreciated Governor Zulum for giving him all the necessary support and values in actualising sanitation activities before and after the September 2024 flood.
“I commend the effort of the sanitation committee for rendering special services, security agencies, and media in general for their unwavering support throughout the year.
No doubt, together, we can create a clean environment and tackle disease outbreaks.”
Places inspected during the exercise include the post office, Damboa Road, Polo, Monday Market, Baga Road, Bama Road, Hausari Premier, Zajeri, among others.
In a related development, the Arewa Peace Initiative, under the leadership of comrade Bulama Abiso, also flagged off end-of-the-year sanitation at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri.

Comrade Abiso said they carry out such initiatives to ensure Borno finds peace through participatory activities like the environmental sanitation that brings people together to clean their environment and avert the spread of diseases.
